Kim Stanley, MS, LPC, NCC, RYT200
Background
Kim offers trauma-informed mental health counseling for individuals and groups. She is clinically trained to hold space for clients in their efforts to facilitate mental and emotional healing. She has enjoyed professional experience in case management and social work at the community level; was a high school teacher for three years for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia teaching theology and literature; and held management positions in patient access for two hospitals. Prior to pursuing her career as a mental health counselor, Kim worked in business development for local behavioral hospitals, which is where she nourished her love and advocacy for mental healthcare. She possesses extensive experience running partial hospitalization groups at the acute behavioral health level, and loves being able to bring this breadth of skills and knowledge to her work with you.
It has been a journey to arrive at this point, and it's still not over!
In her free time, she enjoys yoga, reading, and going on adventures with her German Shepherd, Freya.

Philosophy on Counseling
You are already a whole person having a human experience. So often, our sense of self can be overshadowed by expectations and demands placed on us by our job or society. Our own intuition and authenticity gets lost in the conditioned patterns, habits, and behaviors that have helped us survive to this point. Seeing a therapist can help to disentangle the noise of life and reveal the version of yourself you most want to be.

The therapeutic alliance and relationship IS the medicine when it comes to mental health counseling. The therapeutic approaches you will experience will open up new pathways of understanding, relating to, and interacting with your world. If you are on a prescribed medication, under the care of a psychiatrist, that is a brilliant start. Layering therapy on top of that medication is where the real healing happens.

Therapeutic Approach
Kim's influences in her approach to counseling are gestalt therapy, Jungian psychology, and parts work in addition to training in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and somatic stress release.

Kim holds a RYT200 credential, specializing in Kundalini Yoga. She has practiced yoga for more than a decade, and will offer individual sessions to anyone who would like to deepen their yoga or mental health practices using yogic and Ayurvedic techniques.

You can expect that your story will be approached with reverence and sincerity. Ongoing education, consultation, and supervision is a guaranteed part of your experience as you work together with Kim towards disentanglement.
